Turquoise and Leather Turquoise and Leather by Kim Dare

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a quick-read novella that reads like a smutty short story.

Summary: Book one in the Collared Series

An untrained submissive might not be what George wants, but Eric could be just what George needs.

George McAllister knows better than to hook up with an untrained submissive. He doesn't have the patience to guide a novice through his first kinky experiences. His lovers know what they are doing and do what they are told. When he sees Eric dancing on top of a table in a kinky club, he assumes the beautiful young man is an experienced submissive. Then he sees the turquoise and leather on his neck and recognises it as a collar. Someone else already owns Eric. George has no choice but to walk away.

Eric Jordan doesn't know much about kink and he has no idea why George is suddenly less than enthusiastic. But he knows what he wants and if he has to chase after George to get it, so be it. If George wants to believe the pretty bit of rock on his necklace means something kinky, that's fine. But Eric doesn't belong to anyone but himself and he won't give up possession of himself for one night in George's bed.

An untrained submissive might not be what George wants, but he could be just what George needs.

Why I loved this read: The kink factor is high and the descriptions are dead-on without losing the humor, romance and sensuality of a good D/s scene. Eric's non-stop mouth is both endearing and humorous as you imagine poor George trying to decide whether to throttle him or kiss him!

Excerpt: If it was just a change in the angle of his body or just Eric’s realisation his mood was different, George became bigger and more threatening. Eric’s cock leapt. He dove into the kiss with reckless abandon, threading his hands into George’s thick black hair and clinging for purchase. He tried to push his body up against George’s. His feet slid against the sheets.

Regretfully taking one hand off George, Eric fumbled over the sheet, trying to find the dropped lube and the condoms. Damn, they had to be there somewhere.

George caught his wrist and pinned it to the bed. Moaning his disapproval into their kiss, Eric tried to pull his hand out of his grasp. George wouldn’t allow it. Eric tried with the other hand, patting the sheet, hoping to find the lube on that side of the bed. George caught that hand too. He pinned it down on the other side of Eric’s head. He deepened their kiss before he pulled back.

Eric gasped up at him, fidgeting as much as he was able under the unfamiliar restriction. He tried to pull his hands out of George’s hold. It wasn’t painful but it didn’t let up either. Eric got the message — he was stuck there until George allowed him to be otherwise. Eric swallowed down the mixture of panic and pleasure whirling inside him.
Resting his weight on Eric’s wrists, George smiled at Eric trying to catch his breath.

“I’ll set the pace,” George informed him. “And when I want you ready for me, I’ll see to it that you are.”

Collision Course Collision Course by K.A. Mitchell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I don't think I have found a K.A. Mitchell book that I haven't completely devoured and loved and Collision Course is definitely no exception!

Summary: Immovable object? Meet the irresistible force.

Paramedic Aaron Chase doesn’t have anything against love. It just comes with a lot of responsibility, like when he had to raise his sister and brothers after their drug-addicted mom took off for good. Now that the last one is off to college, Aaron’s anticipating enjoying life on his own terms. He certainly wasn’t expecting Joey Miller to accidentally drop into his life.

Joey’s sexy, funny and annoyingly optimistic, and his tendency to get into trouble keeps sending him Aaron’s way. Even the fact that Joey works for the hated social work system isn’t reason enough to keep him out of Aaron’s bed.

Joey knows all about love. He’s fallen in it ten times—he thinks. It’s not that he can’t tell the difference between sex and love. All that experience has to count for something, right? With Aaron it’s different. Maybe because there’s something to fight for.

This time Joey’s fallen for good. He’s not going to let number eleven get away.

Warning: This love story may overheat readers or the devices used to read it. Explicit male/male sex scenes involving extra penetration, toys, and spanking.

Why I loved this read: Mitchell has to have been a gay man in a previous life because the sex scenes in her books are not just perfectly detailed, they are so vivid, you can practically taste the lube! The sex scenes don't overpower the story either and I love that! The characters grow together, apart and together as fluidly (why does that word sound weird in this context?) as their sex scenes move and bits and pieces of the plot get peppered perfectly throughout the story.

Of course, being a Florida girl myself, I love books that are based in my home state. Now I'm going to be looking for a hot American-Indian-looking 30-year-old on a Ducati and following his ass home! :D

Excerpt: From the way Joey was biting into his lip, one thumb and Aaron’s mouth were enough to make Joey work hard to hold back. Aaron drew it out as long as he could stand it, watching the sweat break out along Joey’s hairline, the way his mouth went slack before he regained his concentration, the way his chin kept dropping to his chest as his eyes squeezed shut. When the pressure of smooth, wet walls on his thumb made his dick too jealous to wait, Aaron pulled his hand away and let Joey slide from his mouth again.

A nudge on his hip and Joey was sliding back. He worked the condom down Aaron’s dick and lifted himself on one foot and one knee. Slicking the latex, Aaron guided his dick in as Joey lowered himself, stopping with the head halfway.

Christ, tight pressure right on the head, squeezing him. From the way Joey licked his lips he was enjoying the stretch, so why had he stopped? Aaron tipped his head to see Joey’s eyes. He was plotting something with his I’m-gonna-get-what-I-want look, chin stuck out.

Aaron raised the hand holding Joey’s hip and brought it down with a stinging slap against Joey’s ass. “Take it.”

A hard clench on Aaron’s dick as Joey’s body reacted to the spank. Oh, he definitely liked to play.

Aaron laid another sharp smack right over the last one. Joey groaned and took him in all the way. Every time they did it, Aaron swore the little blond couldn’t work his cock tighter or better, but Joey did, not even moving but pulsing his muscles all around him,the soft walls closing in hot sweet pressure.

Joey looked at him with a challenge in his stubborn jaw, and Aaron spanked him again. “Move.”

The slaps and the way he took Aaron deep and fast didn’t have any effect on Joey’s erection but to make it leak and twitch.

“Now.” The word snapped and timed with his hand on Joey’s ass.

Joey got up on his knees and rocked, sliding up and down on Aaron’s dick, muscles flexing. Balancing himself with a hand on Aaron’s shoulder, Joey rode him, slamming down so his ass slapped against Aaron’s thighs with every stroke. Aaron put another handprint on him, listening to the husky groan Joey made as the heat hit him.

Aaron grabbed the hot skin in his hands. “Faster.”

Inland Empire (Nicky & Brandon, #2) Inland Empire by James Buchanan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh, how I love Nicky & Brandon! I can't even begin to tell you the wonderful things this book did for my... um... muse. Yes, my muse (which is currently cuddling Nicky's ropes).

Summary: Nicky and Brandon are back, and this time they're on Brandon's turf.

Nicky's still on disability when he comes to Riverside to visit Brandon and pick up his 'Querida' from the Bakersfield's impound lot. Brandon loves having Nicky around, but at the same time, he's worried someone might find out that Nicky's more than just a friend.

When Nicky becomes involved with the Task Force Brandon's on, the tension ratchets higher as Brandon's paranoia about being outed increases. Will his inability to step out of the closet mean the end of his relationship with Nicky? Or will the danger of the case they're on make it all a moot point?

Find out in this exciting sequel to Cheating Chance.

Why I loved this read: I must confess to being a series whore. I devour books in series like my children devour a freshly-delivered Non-Digiornio pizza. This second book in the Nicky & Brandon series did not disappoint!

James Buchanan, once again, took me on a ride that I did NOT want to come back from. Brandon's insecurities and paranoia about his closeted state are so palpable that many times I felt my own breath hitch when something threatened his 'supposed' safe spot inside that claustrophobic closet of his. Usually, when the closeted character is this deeply closeted I get quickly annoyed with them. Not Brandon. I completely understood his fear. Nicky and Brandon's love is exposed to the reader in such a delectable way that you hurt when they fight and you laugh out loud when they banter. Their steamy sex scenes though... holy mother of all things rope, leather and delicious! Choosing one scene from all the delicious scenes in this book was damn hard (pun intended). I wanted to include the motorcycle sex but... well... you need to buy this book to read that scene. It's Motorcycle sex! 'Nuff said!

Excerpt: Getting and giving at the same time was so good. Nicky was just so good. A warm, thick cock in his mouth sent Brandon into heaven. Nicky’s hot tongue teasing his head put him through the roof. He kissed and licked all along Nicky’s length. It wasn’t like there was any shortage on that. He had the sweet taste of Nicky all over his tongue. “Oh, baby, you taste so good,” he mumbled around Nicky’s prick. The first time he’d gotten Nicky’s pants off, seen what the advertising promised, Brandon had wanted it. He’d wanted it bad. Their first few times together, Nick had seemed all bottom. Not that he wouldn’t have kept Nicky that way, but Brandon had always wanted more. When he’d finally come around to sharing everything it had been incredible. Brandon hadn’t gone looking based on cock. Still, Nicky’s dick was icing on a really nice cake.

Nick sucked him down. Brandon’s hips rose to meet Nick’s lips. He pulled Nicky’s heavy balls into his mouth, rolled them around, while he stroked Nicky’s prick. Everything always got jumbled doing this. Where Nicky’s body ended and his body started melded together. Brandon worked his tongue up between Nicky’s cheeks, spreading Nicky with his fingers. There was a taste to Nick that was indescribable: thick and heady, almost like almonds. He slid his tongue inside and Nicky bucked and moaned. The sound shot frost through his thighs. Then Nicky’s finger worked inside Brandon. It was his turn to moan.

Cheating Chance Cheating Chance by James Buchanan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a fantastic read and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! While the story has a lot of tech-speak (which feeds my techno-geeky-heart) it doesn't overpower the story nor does it take the reader away from the plot.

Summary: Vice Detective, Brandon Carr, despite his tattoos and bad-boy cool, lives in the closet with no intention of ever coming out. Then he meets Nevada Gaming Agent, Nick O'Malley, at a Goth convention and his perfectly constructed world starts to crack. Nick's passions for him, a restored hearse and rope bondage might drown Brandon's will. With the odds stacked against them they try to move from simply sex to something more. Sparks fly as the pair probes a world of cheating, murder, drugs and money laundering. The investigation repeatedly derails their relationship, finally forcing Brandon to choose between staying in the closet and saving Nick's life. #1 in the Taking the Odds Mystery Series

Why I loved this read: Nicky and Brandon's attraction slaps you in the face, wakes you up and takes you on a pleasure ride you don't want to come back from! There is a lovely rope bondage scene that is so accurate in its depiction that you don't have to know much about shibari to 'see' it or enjoy it. One of the many things I love about James Buchanan's writing is the raw sexuality that just oozes from the characters. There is plot, romance, a cop, a goth, and sex in a hearse. What's not to love!?!

Excerpt: “Sex doesn’t solve things, Nicky.” Sucking on the denim as Nick tried to unzip his pants, Brandon’s mouth kept getting in the way of Nick’s fingers.

It felt so incredible. “It’s pretty much all I’ve got to offer.”
Brandon stopped. “That’s not true and you know it.” As the sky finally cut loose with drum beats on the roof, Brandon stood, pushing his long black hair out of his eyes. “You’re smart, you’re sexy, you’re stable... more or less.” Brandon’s arms looped across Nick’s waist. “There’re some freaky things going on when you get hissy. You make some stupid decisions. All in all you’re pretty well pulled together.” Brandon’s hands cupped Nick’s butt cheeks as he pulled Nick in. “I, on the other hand, on top of the usual levels of cop paranoia, am pushing thirty and still living in the closet. I don’t know what the fuck you see in me, Nicky, but I’m glad you saw something. Life was starting to get real lonely. I’ve never been so thrown by someone, wanted to be with them so much.”

He’d never had anyone this hot before; never had anyone this interested in him before. Jake had wanted someone to worship him. Nick had done it at first because it was a game, and later because, well, that’s just how they were together. But Brandon was wanting, and offering, something a lot more satisfying.

“Like right now?” Nick slid out of his jeans and shoes and onto the table. “Right here?”

“Shit, Nicky.” Brandon yanked his wallet from his back pocket. Tossing it on the table, it fell open, the gold shield flashing as more lightning broke. “Fuck, I’m going to have to start investing in Trojan with you around.” His hands worked his own belt loose as Nick dug the condom from beneath a wad of ones and fives. “Oh hell, I don’t have any lube.”

One Of Those Days One Of Those Days by Zathyn Priest

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I saw this story reviewed by several of my friends on GoodReads and it was receiving such praise, I had to check it out. Much to my delight, it's not only a delicious read, it's a FREE one too.

A quick short fic that will have you laughing and squirming in your seat!

Summary: When Alex wakes up one morning, and everything starts to go wrong, he knows it’s going to be one of those days. Things get worse when his high school bully, captain of the football team and meathead extraordinaire, Ric Saunders, shows up for an appointment at the chiropractic clinic where Alex works.

Things go from bad to worse in a comedy of errors that leaves Alex's head spinning. Has Ric turned into a crazed stalker, ready to pick up the bullying where he left off eight years before? Or has Ric got something else in mind this time?

Why I loved this read: I love stories that make me laugh and get me hot-and-bothered all at once and this story does just that! Plus, you gotta love the bully-turned-lover stories! ;)

Excerpt: “I’ve got an appointment for nine. Richard Saunders.”

“A bit late?” Janet snarled. “Eight minutes late is almost ten minutes late. Ten minutes late is not a bit.”

Go Janet! Let him have it. Set free the hormonal rage!

“I tried to call. Phone battery was dead.” Ric sounded exactly the same as he did in school and it made my skin crawl. “My mother’s in hospital. I came straight from the ER. Food poisoning.”

“Oh, I see.” From meltdown to temperate, Janet calmed. “I’m sorry to hear that.”

Don’t be sorry! I tried to will my thoughts to penetrate directly into Janet’s mind. The woman gave birth to him for God’s sake. She deserves to be punished!

Magic and the Pagan Magic and the Pagan by Shayne Carmichael

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is one of those books that transports you into a new land from the beginning and though you marvel at the surroundings you know you've read this story before. It was not a disappointing read, but I felt like the end left much to be desired. The descriptions of Aidan Loriel's world are so vivid in the beginning of the book that you really see everything Evan is seeing. Then, suddenly, the story speeds up so fast that you feel lost and a little uncertain about what the authors intended for the story's conclusion to be in the first place.

The smut is very good and deliciously written. The characterizations are very good but the plot was a little unclear.

It was very David Eddings meets JRR Tolkien meets hot, delicious mansex! I liked it, I just wish I could've loved it.
